The things that I use when making a GIF are 

• Photoshop CS4
• VLC Media Player. 

The first thing you need to do is open the episode of a program which you want to use, and find a part you want to GIF. I’m going to use The Vampire Diaries. (Make sure you have your screenshot set and you know where your pictures will save. I can make a tutorial on this just ask.)

Once you have found a scene you want to GIF, simply press your hot key so the pictures are taken.

Open up where your pictures saved to, and check they are how you want them to be.

Open Photoshop.

First you need to go to file, scripts, load files into stack. 

Click browse when the window opens. Find the first image, hold down select and using the arrow keys, highlight the pictures you want to use and press ok.

Your photoshop should then look like this:

You need to make sure your animation window is open. If it isn’t, go to window then animation. 

Next you want to click on the little arrow on the right hand side of the animation window. Then you want to press make frames from layers.

After doing this your frames will appear in the animation window. Next press the arrow again and click reverse frames. 

Next you want to select the first frame then hold shift and select the last frame. Then click on where it says 0 seconds and change it to 0.2 seconds or whatever, it depends on what you want. 

Press play, you have a GIF. I wanted to delete a few frames to make it look better. You might want to resize the GIF to 500 width to make it look better on tumblr. Also make sure you keep your frames as low as possible. You can delete every second frame, it doesn’t make a big difference.

Now all you need to do is colour the picture and click file, save for web and devices and you’re done!
